Professional development refers to learning and training opportunities designed to increase an employee’s knowledge and skills in their particular job, the company, or the industry. Some careers require continuing education to retain employment or licenses to practice their craft, such as teachers, real estate agents, and accountants.

Professional development programs can be offered in-house and others offered by third parties.  Regardless of where it takes place, taking advantage of all of the training and educational opportunities your employer offers can keep you up-to-date and more importantly, marketable!
